Eraser Head: “My Hero Academia’s” Most Underrated Hero

Class 1-A’s tired, yet caring teacher from UA may seem like a sleepy man who has seen better days, but Aizawa-sensei is most certainly not a force to be reckoned with.

Shota Aizawa, known by his hero name as Eraser Head, is not only an excellent teacher to the talented and ambitious students of Class 1-A, but he’s also one of My Hero Academia’s most important and bravest heroes. Despite not being within the top ranked heroes, Eraser Head uses extraordinary skills to display some of the most significant and memorable acts of heroism seen throughout the entire anime. Even when up against a powerful villain like Shigaraki, Aizawa does whatever it takes to save his students and anyone in need, even at the cost of his own leg.

Eraser Head uses his special quirk, “Erasure,” to temporarily remove someone’s quirk just by simply making eye contact with them. This is extremely useful in dealing with the world’s most evil villains. Although the need for constantly applying eyedrops can be a bit of an inconvenience, Eraser Head still gives it his all for the sake of humanity. He may not have the muscles and superstrength like All Might, but he still has the wits and willpower of an amazing, reputable hero.

Aizawa-sensei is also one of the centerpieces of a highly underrated, traumatic past. The tragic loss of one of his best friends when only a student at UA himself has shaped Aizawa’s life and made him into who he truly is to this day. He is determined to save anyone he possibly can at a moment’s notice. Even when all seems lost, he would risk it all.

Although gruff on the outside, Eraser Head should never be underestimated. Under those baggy, bloodshot eyes is a caring, courageous man. He always puts others before himself and would do anything to protect his students. He may be hard on them at times and his strict methods of teaching may put his students on edge, but he does it all because he has faith in the future heroes of tomorrow. It’s evident that although Eraser Head may be underrated, he surely is one of My Hero Academia’s most valiant heroes deserving of a top place within the ranks.
